are the chimpanzees an extended family, who is the matriarch/patriarch or why does the female orangutan only have one arm and is her mate usually with her, etc. I think it would be nice to have some additional information about the animals in the enclosures, i.e. We used the zoo map as a way to walk through and 'check off' how many of the animals we'd seen on our trip. There were so many animals that our family had not seen before at other zoos we frequent (Houston Zoo Albuquerque BioPark Zoo). The walking path through the zoo is wide and paved and easily accessible.
Admission prices were reasonable (I forgot our local zoo member card, otherwise we would have received a reciprocal zoo member discount). We visited with myself, my father-in-law, and my 2 children. We were pleasantly surprised by the Gladys Porter Zoo.
